Vocabulator

Easy to learn, simple to play, Vocabulator is a word game for anyone over the age of 4. All you have to do is find as many words as you can hidden in a scrambled word. Sounds easy, right? Well, when the scrambled word is only 6 letters long, it is. But try it with an 11-letter word and things get a little more challenging.

    Extending the concept of target word games, Vocabulator allows you to control whether or not you must use a particular letter in each puzzle and how long the "base" word is for every game you play. A base word that uses all the letters is always there to be found but so are many other "sub-words". There is no time limit to games you play, so you choose when to stop looking for words.

    Educational

    Vocabulator is a great way for kids to improve their understanding of words. Starting with 6-letter words and moving on to games with longer base words will allow them to improve their vocabulary, as they are able to form bigger words from each puzzle. At the end of every game, the list of possible words is presented along with an automatic link to dictionary.com, so they can look up the definition of unfamiliar words.

    • Set and forget - You only need to visit the settings page once and your preferences are remembered for every game you play. So just launch and go.
    • Resume game - Interrupted by a phone call while playing? No problem. The game will restore itself to its previous state when you come back. Careful though, time is a factor in scoring so don't be away too long!
    • Rewards - every game has built-in rewards as you find and enter words. You are cheered on as you progress from good through very good and excellent until you reach perfect!
    • Shake to shuffle - before you give up on any game, try shaking the phone to re-scramble the letters. A different view might reveal more words.
    • Silent mode - don't want people to know you're playing when you really should be studying? Fine, turn off sound and still get visual cues for correct words, progress and rewards.
    • Statistics - keep track of how you're performing by looking at your average score, words per minute and per game across all the different word length settings.
    • Team play - you don't have to play on your own. Vocabulator is even more fun when playing with your friends or family and everyone pitches in.
