As a way to give users an introduction to Vocabultor, we recently decided to release a free version. This version demonstrates all of the fun game play that is available in the full version, but with a few limitations. So now, you can "try before you buy"!
In the free version, we limit the number of basewords available. This makes the database much smaller so that it is a quick and easy app to download and install, but still allows users to experience the fun of vocabulator game play. If you play the free version enough, you will start to see the same words repeated (this doesn't happen with the full version) but if you've played the game enough to get to this point, then you must enjoy it enough to warrant buying the full version!
You can still choose whether to play in Novice or Expert mode (with or without a "key" letter). However, you cannot change the number of letters available, this is locked on 9 letter games. We have found that this mode of play is the most popular with our users, so you still get to enjoy the most popular mode of play.
While you are still allowed to submit your results to the World Stats database in the free version, you can only do this a limited number of times before you are asked to buy the full version. Obviously, if you are seeing words you've played before, you will eventually get to the point where you know all of the sub-words. In fairness to other users of Vocabulator, we prevent you from submitting scores for words that you've played before.
Don't worry, if you decide to upgrade to the full version after submitting stats from the free version, your username is still available and you can continue your climb up the ladder!
